Understanding ADHD

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) refers to a condition in which the brain functions differently from that of the general population, resulting in weaker abilities to concentrate and inhibit impulsive behaviors. Children with ADHD have difficulty restraining their behavioral responses, leading to more impulsive and hyperactive behavior, which can have negative effects on their learning, daily life, and social interactions. According to various research reports, approximately 3 to 7 out of every 100 school-age children are affected by ADHD. The estimated gender ratio is between 4:1 and 9:1, with girls often being diagnosed later due to milder symptoms that are harder to detect during the diagnostic process, making them less likely to be noticed and referred by parents and teachers.

Categories of ADHD

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can manifest in the following three categories

笑臉

Predominantly Inattentive Presentation

Predominantly Hyperactive/Impulsive Presentation

笑臉

Combined Presentation

Children in this category display significant issues with both inattention and hyperactivity /impulsivity.
